The Junior High Band Program at Jay County (serving grades 7 and 8) is where the magic of music truly begins! We are dedicated to building a rock-solid foundation in musical fundamentals and instrumental technique. Our focus is on making the learning process exciting, rewarding, and accessible for every student.

In the 7th-grade band, students embark on their musical journey by mastering the essentials: proper posture, breath control, basic rhythms, and reading musical notation. It’s all about creating good habits and discovering the joy of producing a clear, beautiful sound on their instrument.

As students advance to the 8th-grade band, we expand their skills by introducing more complex literature, harmonies, and performance techniques. This prepares them to advance seamlessly into the high school ensembles while reinforcing the core knowledge they’ll need for a lifetime of musical enjoyment.
