Jay County Patriot Bands has established a legacy of competitive achievement, particularly at the Indiana State Fair Band Day, where the Marching Patriots have twice been crowned Grand Champion in 1992 and 2001. The program has also secured a remarkable number of Runner-Up finishes. Likewise, the Color Guard has achieved wonderful success competing in IHSCGA events with Regional A championships in 2011 and 2013.
In recent years, the Marching Patriots have consistently placed in the top five, securing third place in 2023, fifth place in 2024, and fourth place in 2025. They have demonstrated continued excellence in one of Indiana’s most historic marching band circuits.
The Patriot Band program is recognized for its consistent excellence, through its participation in the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) events. The program has achieved the highest level of recognition in the Organizational Festival, securing Gold ratings in both 2024 and 2025.
The band also fosters strong individual musicianship, highlighted by its results at the ISSMA Solo and Ensemble contests. Most recently, band students collectively earned 19 Gold ratings and 5 Silver ratings, with multiple students successfully qualifying for the state-level Solo and Ensemble contest.

Members of the Jay County Patriot Band demonstrate character by showing compassion, being honest and fair, displaying self-discipline in rehearsals and performances, making good judgments in and outside the classroom, showing respect to others, showing courage in standing up for beliefs, having a strong sense of responsibility, and being good citizens who are concerned for their band, school and community.
Members of the Jay County Patriot Band demonstrate leadership by taking initiative, using listening skills in a collaborative environment, proactively welcoming new members, mentoring younger members, staying true to their being and strengths, and learning from their mistakes.
Members of the Jay County Patriot Band place an importance on academics through managing their time wisely, setting goals that result in achievement, utilizing resources to help enhance their skills, maintaining good study habits, developing patience and resilience, consistent attendance, and caring for their physical and mental health.
Members of the Jay County Patriot Band demonstrate sportsmanship through their personal determination, preparation, stamina, perseverance and decisiveness.
Members of the Jay County Patriot Band demonstrate service by connecting our classroom learning to the school community through addressing community needs, initiating societal change, and developing effective relationships.
